Wife is currently getting prices on Quartzite countertops around Houma-Thibodaux Area. Any places in particular we should check out for competitive prices ?

Can't help you on pricing in your area, but so far so good on our quartzite counters.
Boy, did I really want to like the granite/other stones that mimicked the look of the quartzite we wanted
Would have been half the cost but they just weren't as good.

Coastal Stoneworks (part of Coastal Homebuilders) did mine and we were very satisfied. They were the easiest to work with. The have some stone or you can go and pick out stone from various stone yards in BR or Nola. They're on hollywood near St Louis Bayou road.
We also talked to the guy on 308 in thibodaux but he seemed too busy with local builders to care about our individual order.
Talked to Ferniss Leblanc and also the one by the airport in houma and they were either high or not easy to deal with.
Sometimes you go to places and they make you feel like you're more of a burden asking them to work at your house than it's worth...

I have them. I have never had a real big concern over countertops, formica is kinda fine for my beer tastes. But this house we bought has miles of quartz counters, island, around sink and stove, and in butlers pantry area. No issues, no staining, no special care needed as far as I can tell.

Thanks for the referrals. We currently are talking with two company’s, and I feel like the consensus is if it’s in their inventory, it is a good deal. If they ordering something, you will pay an arm and a leg.

that's not what we found. Maybe at a place that stocks alot because they want to move their in house inventory. Coastal had some material but was mostly custom from what i could tell. The lady gave us a list of places they dealt with (a few in elmwood, one near the superdome). We went to those places and the mrs picked out the ones "we" liked. We either asked the place to send pricing to coastal or gave coastal the list and they called and got pricing (the suppliers only sell to fabricators). Their prices were reasonable and well within the price range of places that had limited stock.

Take my advice. Seal them several times just after install. My contractor lied and my island looks like shite.

Just know that all quartzite is not the same. The denser/more expensive stuff (Taj Majal, Cristallo, etc.) is going to hold up a lot better than the less dense stone. We have Taj Mahal in our kitchen and it's wonderful. We've got this stuff called Lavezzi in our master bath and I have to seal it yearly. The fabricator/installer didn't seal it whenever we installed it and it took me months to get the initial stains out of it.
A lot of fabricators will sell you marble or limestone and call it quartzite too. Just be aware of that.
