Good afternoon, I'm posting this now with pics to follow. I've got a Satsuma tree with another citrus fruit tree growing out of it.
1. What the hell is growing? Supposedly a pomelo, but the ones I've seen are the size of melons and not yellow. It tastes closer to a lemon. Very tart but with a semi sweet aftertaste.

2. My Satsuma tree is leaning towards the sun (mostly west) since the tree canopy we have blocks the sun from the east.

My guess is its Swingle root stock that the satsuma was grafted on. Swingle has a lemon/grapefruit taste.

That looks/sounds like a Meyer lemon to me. Mine are small this year as well due to the heat.

I want to say they were around the same shape and size last year. The tree is in the back near the middle of my yard so the sprinkler will get the area around it covered well.

It’s growing towards the sunlight it needs.

those 2 trunks are not the same. one is the grafted tree, the other is the root stock which should have been pruned long time age. those fruit are coming off the root stock.

I know. I'm asking in the 2nd part how to prune properly, because I'm worried the weight of the satsumas would damage it. When that big freeze happened a couple years, the tree limbs were pretty heavy and I'd like to avoid any possible threats to the tree.

Follow the bad (root stock) portion down as far as you can and cut it, then keep cutting any sprouts /suckers that come back

That's the Satsuma portion. Are you saying I completely destroy the other tree?

Yes , the “other tree” is just wild root stock, should of never grown in the first place

Correct. That root stock is sucking energy from the fruit producing part of the tree.
