Ceiling fan knocks when it’s turned on. How do you rebalance it?

I need to rebalance my ceiling fan (I think). It makes a knocking sound as it rotates. The faster it rotates, the faster it makes the sound. How do I fix this?

Tape a couple nickels on the top of one of the fan blades.

Measure each blade's distance from the ceiling at a single point. Weight the high one or gently bend the low one.

What is knocking? If you can, gently push up on the end of the blades to see if there is any movement where they attach to the motor. Could be a loose fan blade. I had a loose blade and it would knock until it got up to full speed. Turns out the blade was loose and it was hitting the housing of one of the lights.

I have never found any of that to be worth trying to fix... I just buy another fan for a hundred bucks and put the old one by the street for the trash men.

Mine did this.
I got a ladder and tightened every screw I could find all the way up to the ceiling. It worked.
