Ceiling Fan for Patio

I know there are "wet" rated which have sealed motors and composite blades, and those that are "outdoor" rated which aren't necessarily sealed. Does anyone have experience between the two? Should I go with the "wet" rated for south LA humid summers? Will they hold up for 10+ years?

They are expensive but get a BIG arse FAN. They started in the industrial space and now have more consumer friendly options.
But humidity is a factor so get outdoor rated

Macro air is better than big arse fans with better warranties. Vektor sales off of Choctaw sells and installs them. They ain’t cheap.

I always just bought regular indoor fans with no light kit. Never replaced the motor or the blades, and they survived 10+ years. All I had to do was put Loctite on the bolts holding the fan blades to the units, as we had a lot of wind that would loosen the bolts over time.

I have 2 Hunter brand outdoor fans in my backyard. I've lived in the house for 5 years and they were there when we moved in so I don't know the age. They work great though. The blades are some type of plastic or fiberglass so no worries with a wood type blade being affected by the humidity.

Minka H2O OutDoor. These bad boys move some serious air and they are affordable.
I’d buy an evaporative/swamp cooler rated for* 2x the size of your sitting area, preferably one that oscillates, and you’ll be way more comfortable.

What brand of evaporative cooler do you have? How large? I’ve got a 12x18 patio. Also do they really work in the heat and humidity of a Louisiana summer?
