Built a floating deck patio extension this weekend

Decided to build a little 11 x 13 add on to my back patio. Materials cost about $1200... I used composite boards so that added a significant amount to the cost, but think it will be worth it in the long run. It wasn't the easiest thing, as I am a beginner but it is doable. I think it came out pretty good. Enjoy

Looks nice. The house I grew up in and a house I rented in college had a floating deck, but man the roaches that live under those decks make me never want to have one again. Maybe the composite boards will help though.

Im going to use borax to keep them at bay... We're also cleaner than college kids are

dirt in contact with the 4x4's is going to make them rot and attract termites.

Even with Ground Contact wood?

What kind of composite boards did you go with? I'm about to redo the deck boards on mine and will probably go back with Trex boards. Just trying to see what I'm getting into as from what I gather there is two different styles of Trex boards and installing one is different from the other
