Bloodgood Japanese Maple south LA

Anyone have success growing a bloodgood Japanese maple south of I-10? Everything I read says that Lafayette is not in the growing zone for these trees, but if placed in the right spot (morning sun), it can grow. Seeing how much sun and heat it can tolerate.
ETA: Ignore. I just found a recent thread on this and many more on this board.

Fwiw a lorapetalum will give you a similar look to the Bloodgoods but does much better in the heat & sun

I have one that’s doing well but I’m 0.6 miles north of I-10. It’s in a relatively shaded part of my yard. Unfortunately the pretty red is seasonal
