We have a french style fridge and the freezer needs to be defrosted. There are ice shavings that are accumulating. Is ther ea way to defrost it while leaving the fridge part running? I have a deep freezer to put my frozen foo into while defrosting; Thanks.

Why would you want to leave it running?

then you left the door cracked open or the door gasket is leaking and not sealed

use a plastic spatula to pop off the ice and scrape off the rest as best as you can, then shut the door completely and check for air gaps. the freezer with self-dissolve the remaining ice over several days as long as the door is sealed.
