I have an area in my front yard where a small amount of Bermuda popped up in my St Augustine. It started last year and has spread more. Any suggestions to get rid of the Bermuda?

I’ve seen people suggest Atrazine will kill Bermuda, though I’ve sprayed the winter weed cocktail a month or so ago and it didn’t do much.

Burn your yard, and start over.

It is extremely difficult to prevent. One bird lands in your St. Augustine with a bermuda seed stuck to it, and voila, you have a mixed yard a few weeks later. The most effective is to fert the St. Augustine, and cut at the highest mower setting, in order to choke out the bermuda. Only good for reducing the bermuda, though.

This is what I’ve always been told.

If your SA is well maintained it should grow right over the top of the Bermuda and you won’t even see the Bermuda that’s still there.

If you cut your grass under 3” the Bermuda will spread like wild fire.

Atrazine will damage Bermuda but only if it’s green. One fert a year and the rest iron treatments. Bermuda loves fert so high N fert would be a no go. Mow high.
