Interested in recommendations for a reputable attic insulation company/services. I live in the Youngsville, La area

Following.

I was told you can rent a machine and do it yourself pretty easily. Supposedly, if you buy a certain number of bags the machine rental is free.

That’s what I started doing when I got a quote from an insulation company.
It ain’t hard and the learning curve ain’t steep.

All true. I did blow-in on top of my R-22, and it was a breeze (pun intended).

Seriously, I bought the required bags (30ish), and returned what I didn't use

Before blowing insulation, I would recommend sealing up all the holes in your top plate around wires and pipes. The amount of conditioned air loss into the attic is tremendous. just walk all the top plates with a broom and a few cans of spray foam with gloves. That will be your biggest savings in my opinion.
