Athletic Field Turf - Man Cave
Building a new house and have a built in man cave (bar/projector TV etc). Contemplating flooring it with athletic field turf. Anyone have any experience doing this? Pros/Cons? Recommended Installer?

I think it would be cool. I've thought of it for my outside decking but don't know anything about it. Care to enlighten us as to why not to do it.

It’s gonna require vacuuming, and how are you gonna get the spilled food or beer out of the turf? Seems like it would trap any dirt or spills. Outside, you could wash w a hose. Inside? Just gonna get gross.

I think it would be a pretty cool concept and look, especially while watching football. Yes, cleaning it is a concern so that is why I am asking around for any input or experience.

You're at least going to need a shopvac to clean up spilled food and drink. Personally, I wouldn't do it for that reason alone.

I have an 850 sq. ft. man cave and there is one area rug between the sofa and entertainment center that is 8' x 10'.

If anything is spilled on it that can't be removed by blotting up or vacuuming, I'll drag it outside and hose it down, hang it over a trellis in my garden in the sun to dry before putting it back.

Your not talking about the type that is made out of old tires are you? It's got those small black balls you see come up when someone drags there feet. Now the old astro turf might be cool, especially if you can get the eye of the tiger painted on it. Cleaning shouldn't be a problem with all the sidelines shite going on during a football game I'd bet there was some Gatorade or something similar spilled on the turf. As long as you see to it after the spill.

Maybe just do a turf rug if possible?

Turf rug might be a better way and manageable way to clean it better. The room is 18 x 35 so plenty of room to have a rug and get it picked up and moved to clean outdoors.

Cleaning would be a bitch. It’s not very comfortable on bare feet. It can have a harsh odor when new, especially in an enclosed space. Once the novelty of it wears of, you’re stuck with expensive fake grass as flooring. If you ever want to sell the house, you’ll have to replace it with something that won’t be seen as a negative to most buyers.

OP, as others have recommended, just get a rug for the room if this is something you really want. And make sure the underside of the rug is lined

We got a carpet made from plastic water bottles and it’s quite comfortable. I was surprised by how soft it was.

You can just drag it outside and hose it out.

It was a bit more than other area rugs that look similar

Why don't you just put down green carpet? Looks like astro turf, comfortable to walk on with bare feet, and what's more you can vacuum up any mess.

i put this down in my party room at a previous house. But i put way too much glue underneath, i had to rent a big sander to remove the glue, still didn't get all of it, so take it easy on the glue if you go this route.
