Yeah that set up is going to give you problems. It will create higher temps and head pressure increasing your electric bill and decreasing your compressor life.

Yikes, the logistics of DYI working on that unit isn’t too easy - be damn careful. Guess all of us were thinking you were dealing with a ground unit.
On the gable vent fan I’m going to post this brief article on the efficacy of power ventilated fans LINK and you can decide whether it’s in your best interest, and the outside condensing unit, to run it during the extreme heat of summer.
I could see it shortening the life the compressor for the reasons stated by Swazla.

It isn't great, but not terrible either. Explains why I didn't want to go back up to test the capacitor without the new one to replace it.
The gable fan was an attempt to get some humidity out of the house. I have been fighting it really bad this year. I have some larger ideas that will be much more expensive to pursue, but nothing is standing out as obvious at this point.
I will look at that article because I have heard different things, but it was kind of a troubleshooting to see if anything simple would help.

WTF is the unit on the roof for? Flooding or theft prevention?
I have seen some 2 story apartments around BR where they put the condensers on top of an overhang over the front door. This basically guarantees they rarely get cleaned and/or some poor bastard breaks his neck from a fall trying to service the unit.
Not to mention the guaranteed roof leaks from the support structure through the roof shingles.
Be careful up there.

Really small backyard. It could fit, but this does remove the noise and provide a little more area. The roofers (previous owner) did a pretty good job and the rear roof is asphalt paper type stuff.
Stays shaded most of the day in the location, but being it is a heat pump I am up there twice as often cleaning the damn coils.
