Looking for info on heat pump hot water heater. Are they as good as they claim and do they save a lot of money? Are they pretty trouble free?

They can be great in the right application. Typically, you do not want to use them areas that get cold.
The biggest thing to keep in mind is that a heat pump water heater will make the space around it cold and requires 1,000cubic feet or more for air flow. The compressor will make noise. Location is key for these. Recovery will be slow unless you enable heating strips too.

Thanks, it would be installed in the laundry room so the cooler air would air would actually be a plus.

sounds like a big laundry room. Hopefully no bedrooms near by as the compressor would likely be noticeable.

Bedrooms are on the other side of the house.
