AFM Disable on Chevy V8 engines?

Considering getting one of the Range Technology AFM disablers for my 2018 Chevy Silverado. Not having any issues with mine (50K miles), but do know quite a few people that have. Just want to put this out there and see if anyone has any experience with the product. Thank you in advance.

Mine works as advertised. Put it on after a lifter failure at 130k. I would highly suggest it to avoid the catastrophe that happened to my 2015 Sierra. According to my brother-in-law the new denalis do not allow it to work with their coding. GMC being big motor and all.

I disabled it on my 2010 but we did it via some tuning software a buddy has on his laptop. Truck ran great after that

More than enough videos on YouTube to help with this issue.

works great. there is zero reason not to do it. AFM by the sticker only supposed to increase 1mpg. however, if you test it yourself, you will see you get better gas mileage if you disable it bc a lot of gas leaks inside the engine bc of the lifter system.
I've been using one for probably 5 years or so. I changed all my lifters as a precaution but as long as you don't hear any tapping sound, there is no need to change the lifters.

Another vote for the Range AFM disabler. Only regret is not installing it sooner.

Put a Range on my 2018 at 52k. Works as advertised. Nearing 60k now and nary a tick. If you have a 6L80 trans, consider a trans thermostat by-pass as well.

I have a 2018 Silverado Z71 with around 50K. Please explain the trans thermostat by-pass?

It is a very simple valve that allows the transmission fluid to by-pass the thermostat in the transmission. GM puts the thermostat in the transmission to make the fluid run upwards of 200 degrees or more, which makes it thinner and result in a gain of 2 or 3 mpg on the truck. Thinner fluid will result in a failure of the torque converter and/or the entire transmission. With the by-pass valve on mine, the fluid rarely gets to 140 degrees on a hot summer day.

Can confirm - cruising around 70mph I averaged 20mpg. I went the full mile and did a full AFM/DOD delete for my 2018 Yukon Denali. The motor runs smooth as silk now and has power galore with a new cam and tune. It is 10+ times more expensive than the Range Disabler but also more permanent. I have made my L86 motor more simple like the original LS1.

Is this also true for the 10 speed? I also don't care about efficiency compared to reliability.

The thermostat can also malfunction and not allow fluid to circulate through the cooler which cooks the fluid, and the transmission…. Ask my BIL.
Bypass is the way to go for sure.
