Yeah I think that puts you in zone 7, zone 9 here and it’s out of the recommended zone.
A lot of good recommendations. Got me looking at hydrangeas a lot… that would go against the easy little care I initially wanted. Gonna do more research before I drive to Forrest hill and spend $500

i like hydrangeas but there can be high maintenance. in my shade garden i have a hodgepodge of ferns, caladiums, vinca, hostas, wandering jew, lirope, and some other misc tropicals i got at gene's greenhouse. 100% hands-off

As mentioned by others, ferns and hosta, also lenton rose. For a true groundcover, pachysandra, ajuga, or mondo grass.
