So, should we ban you for violating rule #2 of the Game of Thrones thread guidelines?

No more then you calling me out individually in your OP in the same thread.

Of course, now people can probably figure out that a certain someone does not kill a certain other someone, at least up to this point in what is written, which in a way is a spoiler.

Translates from high Valyrian roughly as "all men must be banned."

You're a pretty ardent defender of the ability of book readers to post in the non book readers thread.
I wanted to make sure it was clear this week that the thread wasn't intended for your comments, since we don't own threads or anything.
Or, it was just funny.

Touché. I find myself funny on many occasions, and that's all that matters.

I find you funny a lot, but other readers have been far more annoying in the NO SPOILERS threads than BGB.
But like I said, I don't understand why a reader would even want to participate in the non-reader discussions. I understand Carson and others wanting to live vicariously through us, as lurkers, but you'd have to kind of disingenuously feign ignorance to participate in the discussions. And, as has been said, if you're a known reader, everything you say is looked at from a spoiler perspective.

I think there's been enough departure from the books (and it looks like there's going to be a lot more from other things that have been posted) that you could probably have both as long as some common sense is exercised over it. Personally, I enjoy the "fresh eyes" perspective someone who hasn't read provides. That's the sad thing about it. It gets taken that they're being dumbed down/talked down to by people who have read the books, when really I know for me personally I'd just like to see their opinions because they haven't.
A perfect example is my question I asked about Robb's wife. She's apparently a completely different character in the show vs. the books so I thought it was okay to ask.

Honestly, I couldn't even tell you who all the readers are. If I had, I would have named them all.
I knew she was a reader because she defended her right to post in the non reader thread pretty exhaustively last time. She even threw out the gem that no one owns a thread, so she can post wherever she wanted.
I get it, but we aren't interested in a readers opinion. If she hadn't done that, I likely would have never remembered her name.
If the admins tell me to take it down, I will. I know she RA'ed and whined about it in the Crackpot thread.

Don't be hypocritical in whining and saying someone should be banned and I won't RA you for violating an actual TD rule.

And if your question deals with differences between the book and show, we're not really qualified to answer it. You'd get a better discussion in the book thread.
I still don't quite get the "middle ground" thread. I like the idea and attempt to make everyone happy, but I don't see how it doesn't eventually turn into another book thread.

I feel like I am the only that hasn't started a GoT thread for this weekend.
Posted on 4/13/13 at 5:04 pm to blueboy
It will. But at least the people who go into that thread go into knowing that book talk might happen.
It gives people the option to discuss the show with book readers, instead of trying to post in the non book reader thread and being subjected to those few literates who were refusing to leave.
