The Hornets board is probably more active than any other Hornets board. There isn't much interest in the team right now.

Ground rule: Nobody is allowed to speak of the time Jane's Addiction ended up in the final sixteen bands competing for the O-T's greatest rock act title.

I only use Pandora, I'm going to try Spotify out, is there an app so I can listen to it on my phone?

Its free with ads on the computer. Mobile App is free for like 36 hours after getting it. You get it ad free on the computer and on the phone for 10 a month

Well worth it with the crackdowns on youtube and torrents IMO

The only thing i dont like is there is a lack of mixtapes on there but those arent difficult to get otherwise

I would limit the talk about torrents and things like that

I would make talk of torrents a banable offense to prevent any potential legal action against TigerDroppings.

I think talk of torrents or free upload sites is generally harmless as long as people aren't posting direct links or advertising where you can find certain media. This seems to be the spirit of the law on the Movie/TV board and regulars there are smart about what they post.

I won't presume to know what the actual policy is - I have seen threads centered on torrents get deleted from the O-T in the past.

Chicken, check out GrooveShark if noone else has mentioned it. Really user-friendly and has the smoothest looking/working layout for building playlist. I vote we go with GrooveShark

sticky'd threads to the different type of genres.

That would be awful, there is ton of different genres and if everyone got one then half the page would be stickys

No, just one sticky'd thread with links to the different genre threads.

One Sticky for all genres.

However, I pitty the poor man that would have to manage such a cluster pluck of a thread.

Yes, it definitely won't do to try to compartmentalize the board according to genres. On forums devoted solely to music, you often have sub-boards for genres and then official threads for bands within that genre. Even something like "The Official Led Zeppelin Thread" gets cluttered, so I can only imagine what it would be like to have a single thread for all "Classic Rock" discussion. shite, a Dubstep thread went ten pages in less than 24 hours on the O-T yesterday.

So I guess the only route is an anarchy music board with no stickys?

Or go all the way with compartmentalization?

Whatever is easiest on the admins and still serves it's purpose for the users.

yea the concept is in nice in theory, but in reality it would probably be awful. even just one sticky'd thread with links to the different genre threads would probably be to much hassle to manage.

though i wasnt thinking of breaking it down to much genre wise. just a few main ones. such as rock, country, jazz, gospel, rap/r&b, etc. doing it that way it would't take up half the page and might make it doable...

The only stickies needed are probably a TD playlist thread, music awards show threads (when applicable), and perhaps poster-created lists and tournaments, like the MWADS of the M/TV Board or the modern rock bracket currently on the O-T.

You will have the same problems that exist elsewhere... for example, the same "Arcade Fire new single" thread 30 times, like "I just saw Drive and it was decent". It will just take prudent, music-centric admins like Baloo and TomyDingo to decide what kinds of topics need to be prominently displayed to avoid duplicates. I think all posters should learn how to use Google to search TD rather than the limited internal function.

It starts there but then dubsteppers with want their own thread, Rap purist will want a seperate thread for rap and Hip Hop etc etc

Theres always going to be a section of a genre that doesn tthink it belongs in a certain genre and thus will probably begin a petty petition to get its own sticky

I like the idea for one thread with links to each genre but thats up to the admins if they want to keep up with that because that sounds like a pain

I think Korkstand started a thread a long time ago about how to efficiently do just that, but it was never stickied.
