Is there a plan to completely separate TD and the SEC Rant in the future?

They could, but would you really want to bother posting on an LSU website? Seriously?
This is assuming that the SECRant would be equipped with a full range of boards, to accomodate losing it's connection to TD. What would be the purpose of having an account here? You could get everything you needed on the SECRant.

The answer would be no, the pros do not outweigh the cons and TD will never completely separate from the SECr.

Won't happen. Most readers/posters of the SEC rant click over from TD.com. Many TD stalkers from SECr.com. The base of the SECr is made up of window lickers who registered to post on TD. That's a special kind of knuckle dragger. Chicken would be dumb to get rid of that many free hits.
