You want to go to bat for someone, get the fricking details right. He said THIS child about a picture of my daughter. Stop being disingenuous about the facts.

I didn't see the thread in question but I trust CFBR to tell the truth.

With that in mind, I vote e-trust be banned permanently.

Or even longer.....

If people were banned forever over posting stupid shite, you'd have a lot fewer posts

He was using the specific example in the thread to speak his opinion on the general. He did it in a poor way. Is that really ban worthy?

It's not really hard to figure that out. Eh whatever, it's Chicken's board and he can have it run as he sees fit I suppose.

If Elisha was whacked, why wasn't AlejandroInHouston banned for his "joke"?

What's the line? I like this board because you have a lot of leeway to speak your mind. I wish it were a bit more free. No malice was intended and he apologized. Again though, the admins are free to run their board as they see fit. They give us the forum and set the rules.

Just trying to say I understand him getting banned, but wanted to highlight the freedom of speech on the board is why I love it.

Are you implying that he made a comment about the topical child without knowing of any relation to you or any other poster?

If so, it was not a personal attack on another poster. Nor did it break any other guidelines.

It's a radical and brutish point of view, but I don't believe it's malicious. The poster truly believes that abortion would save such children from the pain of life.

He admits it's unorthodox, and he apologized for any offense to you personally.

Perhaps you dislike the poster and avoid him in the future, but he did not break any rules as far as I can see.

The poster associated Angleman's syndrome with Down syndrome, and used that to formulate an opinion that was uninformed. I have stated many times that I have no problem with his being reinstated and I never called for him to be banned, nor did I RA.

Your premise along with Doc's reason for starting the thread, however, is not looking at the whole picture. His comment was ignorant, and not because it was brutish or cold, but because it was an impromper comparison between the aforementioned syndromes. This is my point.

Yes the abortion comment pissed me off, but I think since then I have been very realistic about the situation. I have already said I don't believe elisha is a bad guy. In the end, however, his short time ban is perfectly fine with me.

CRAP. I just read this (and the original thread) and I'm speechless anyhone is defending this a-hole. I agree with Russian, leave the fricker in ban-land.

I mean toothpick was banned for making some random stupid comment about Allah and we've not seen him since..to me such a dbag comment about someone's daughter posted after such a sincere blog is way way WAY over the damn line.

CFB, you may not still be mad about that comment but I am.

We should all have more respect for CFB and his family to tolerate insensitive remarks like that. it's one thing to argure politics, religion etc. but to insult his daughter and basically say she never should have been born is beyond the Pale.

As with all things on this board, this is a matter of opinion instead of a statement of fact.

No, the premise was that although you might not like it, it didn't breach board guidelines.

I just relish consistency, and this sets a precedence separate from the rules that someone can be banned for an unpopular opinion.

Toothpick clearly personally attacked Ghazi in his statements against Islam.

That might be your opinion, but seeing as how he was banned, you obviously know less than you think you do.

Again, and I am not sure if you willfully ignore everything I have written to say what you feel like saying or you just have a comprehension problem, I never RA'd or asked for him to be banned. You never saw me start a thread like this and, if you read the thread these are spawned from, only saw civil conversation between the two of us.

Whether you are on a search to protect some of the crap said on the OT, I do not know. I do know that he was banned for what he said, I didn't do it (which I probably wouldn't have even if I was an admin), I didn't call for it, and so on. So whoever your issue is with, it clearly is not me.

He was indeed banned, whether for a personal attack or simply moral judgment on the part of an administrator. All I'm saying is that I disagree with the decision.

I can see how it seems like I'm arguing with you, but I'm not. I comprehend that it is not you who caused the banning nor did you request arbitration. I simply condense my statements toward the thread at large into a single post rather than reply to multiple people.

I don't have an agenda here. Just offering my thoughts on the issue since there didn't seem to be a voice rationally defending the poster who was banned.
