Easy way to reply to the OP in a thread?

Some threads get several pages long, and it seems others keep responding to the Opening Post (unless they have a specific response to a later post). The only way I see to do that is to scroll back. Is there some way to do it as I'm reading, say the last post on page 3, and just want to respond to the thread, not a post on that same page 3?

OK, I guess that's the only way. I was trying to avoid going back and losing my place in a long thread (I sometimes open the OP in another tab to do this).

Most other forums have a generic "reply to thread" type button, so I thought I was just missing it. Thanks.

I think you would end up with most people being lazy and using that field more often than replying to a reply...thread structure will be ruined...
