We could also have a few threads dedicated to LPGA tour events. That would encourage more women to visit the site and chat about golf, which of course the hardlegs would appreciate.

So, in summation, the golf board would be a great addition to the site for everyone.

Can we get a temporary board and see how well that works? Give us 2-3 weeks and make a judgement afterwards. Such as a coaching change board

I've got nothing against a golf board but do you think it's more in demand than a health/fitness or science/tech board? I know it is to you but it seems like a golf board would be down on the pecking order. Again, I've got nothing against a golf board.

Though I'm not the biggest proponent of a whole board, I do agree with you to an extent, but here is where I see the difference in a Science/Tech Board and Health/Fitness, and a Golf Board:

While the former topics cover a intensely wide range of topics, golf covers a narrowly specific range, and the topics discussed about it on the MSB prove it. A lot of what is discussed about health, fitness, science, and tech can be viewed as off-topic, belonging on the OT. While a board would suit those topics, not everyone lifts, eats healthy, or plays with technology. Not to say that everyone plays golf, but consider the age of members of this board. How many more older posters would contribute to a golf board than say a science/tech board?

Like I said, I'm really not trying to make an intensive argument one way or the other, I'm just trying to point out how popular a set of a specific, wide ranging topic is compared to a set of a wide ranging, specific topic would be.

Chicken: having worked in the golf industry for quite sometime and making it a very large part of my life, I can attest and I'm sure others in my similar position can attest to the vast amount of add revenue and popularity of this specific subset you are missing out on. Look at golfwrx.com and thesandtrap.com, two popular golf forums, to see how topics fair.

No way golf board should get created over a Health/Fitness or Science/Tech board. Not even close.

But Science/Tech and Health/fitness on the OT are a specific topic.

Also, why can't golf just stay on the MSB? More SPORTS board is more specific to describing golf than the OT is at describing Science/Tech or Health/Fitness.

When you think of sports golf is one of ten or so sports that come to mind.

When you think of "Off-Topic" how many different areas can you think of? Its practically unlimited.

So comparatively Health/Fitness and Science/Tech are a VERY specific topic considering the range of the OT subject matter.

Golf is far more generic in terms of a SPORTS board.

Conclusion: Science/Tech and Health Fitness win.

And I promise you I'm a sports guy.

The health aspect certainly is not only about weightlifting, and thats a narrow-minded view. It would likely attract more health discussions centered around illness/injury questions, proper dieting or supplementation, if this supplement works, where to buy it cheap, how it worked. Supplements are taken by many more non-weightlifters btw. Also, everyone should worry about their health. What about people who run or bike? All people should exercise as well. If this is an irrelevant topic to you then you aren't doing it right.

Do you use a computer? Smart phone? Then you play with technology or could possibly have a question. The range of discussion on these boards could grow far more and make the board actually worth it unlike a golf board which has little more information to expand on.

What else could you talk about on the golf board that you cant or havent already?

The health/fitness board could spring more people to ask questions or reply on health or fitness matters and EVERYONE does it in some way.

Science/Tech also effects everyone because people are always looking for the right phone/comp/television/operating system/software many different things along with the tech business news, new technological breakthroughs. In other words, there are plenty more topics within Science/Tech that could come up as well. Science and Technology are relevant every single day to all of us just as Health/Fitness should be.

What happens when winter comes for the Golf board? It just slows down drastically?

Will you stop caring about your health? Will science or tech stop being relevant? Likely not.

So a larger portion of the board could contribute or gain from a Health/Fitness and Science/Tech board, than a golf board.

I think a golf board would be better for the discussion of playing, clubs, tips, etc. rather than discussion of PGA tournaments

Well if we have a board limit of some sort then the Golf board seems like a waste in comparison, no offense. If there is NOT a limit then I'm all for it, and I'm not for a bunch of different boards for every topic. So if we could get all 3 of these boards then I'm down. I'm just not sure splintering the more sports board by 1 sport makes sense, because then you'd have to split all the sports. If you had a baseball board and a golf board, and you already have a soccer, then you'd obviously have to include a football board because that's by far the most popular sport on here. Then that leaves basketball remaining and whatever sports like tennis .

Also, if you had a golf board it wouldn't make sense to me NOT to have PGA tournament threads on that board. I would expect those threads to be on the golf board IF a golf board existed.

Well obviously if you make the golf board, all golf discussion goes there. I've just always felt that the discussion of playing golf gets stuck in between the OT and MSB. I guess it's an unwritten rule that it all goes on the MSB now, but I feel like there could be better place for it.

I'm not that big on science/tech or health/fitness. They all seem to fit pretty well on the OT IMO
