Seems like there has been a ton of random and kind of not needed golf threads just so posters can try to get a golf board.

I agree with this, it's similar to the great Fitness board push of '12

If this goes through, the next logical step is to move all of the NASCAR threads to the Outdoor board.

It's only rednecks that engage in those two things.

Amirite?

Oh Lord I hope you are joking. Dear baby Jesus I hope you aren't this dense.

I just wish those kind of drivel threads would be moved to the OT. The "what's in your bag" kind of crap is not about sports. Example:

US Open thread - MSB
What kind of putter should I buy? - OT

Will Tiger make the cut? - MSB
Golf Courses in Atlanta? - OT

Edit: basically anything that starts with "Golfers:" should be moved to the OT.

This.

A golf board isn't a solution to anything. It's a sport that belongs on the More Sports Board.

Discussing what's happening on the PGA and other tours belongs on the MSB.

Asking what sort of equipment to buy belongs on the OT.

You don't see people discussing cleats on the MSB...

While I don't want to see the boards collaborated, I don't understand why soccer gets its own board, but golf doesnt. I guarantee you there are more people on this board that golf than play soccer. I'm not saying there shouldnt be a soccer board, but it shouldn't be out of the question to have one for golf as well.

It was first introduced as a temporary board in the summer of 2010 to host discussions pertaining to the World Cup. And, it was actually titled as the "World Cup" board.

A few months later, it was renamed as the Soccer Board, and the rest is history.

Yeah I remember the world cup board, but I also remember a flood board and a few coaching change and. Conference expansion boards that come and go with the season. I've never once seen a Masters board or a US open board

I've been saying this for over a year. Have the admins start cracking skulls on the MSB for all these boneheaded threads.

Because of idiots that come into every soccer thread calling the most popular sport in the world queer etc, and I guarantee you more people play and watch soccer than golf.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that. There are like 10 golf courses in every city, and maybe 2 soccer fields. Yes, worldwide more people play soccer, but not on this board or in our region. And don't think the dumbasses don't come into golf threads proclaiming "wrong board " or "not a real sport"

This is why you can't have a combined soccer / golf board.

The in-fighting would be ridiculous. It would turn into a shite show of fighting.

Wrong. I don't care if they get a golf board or not. I love golf, I play it, I watch it. There should be no combining of boards.

Please tell me why I'm wrong. Maybe soccer is predominant in Lexington, but this board is comprised of 90% louisianians and golf is, without a doubt more popular. And fwiw i don't support this change. And I don't care one way or another if we get a golf board, though it would he nice.

Well, for instance, most areas have a soccer complex with multiple fields.....add that to every HS probably has one......and that number would be greater than golf courses. Almost all youth play soccer at some point as a kid.....the same can not be said about golf.

Again, your stats probably are confined to people you know, which doesn't reflect true numbers. Just because you don't like soccer doesn't mean that everyone does.

ETA:
quote:

The United States Youth Soccer Association boasts over three million players between the ages of five and 19, while American Youth Soccer Organization has more than 300,000 players between the ages of four and 19.

quote:

USA has 17,672 golf courses as of 08, I can promise you there are more soccer fields in America, and ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!!!!

I understand how soccer complexes work, but that's doesn't change fact if I want to go play with my friends, my options for golf are vastly greater. Also youth playing soccer hhas no relevance to this board because its mostly adults that grew out of playing soccer.

Also I guarantee you that there are a while lot more Louisianian residents on here than everywhere else. And I never said I didn't like soccer, I just think its silly for you guys to argue that you need a soccer board, but golfers don't need a golf board.

That is one of the most ignorant statements ever posted on this site.

The main difference is one of volume.

Leave the golf PLAYING and discussion of tournaments threads on the MSB.

Put the gold EQUIPMENT threads on the OT.

It's not that difficult to understand. You don't need a new board.

You do realize that there are literally hundreds of soccer leagues that have seasons throughout the year, not to mention World Cup Qualifiers, UEFA, Champions league, Gold Cup, Friendlies, etc., etc., etc.

There is literally no end to the "season" when it comes to soccer, unlike football, Basketball, baseball.

Not to mention, that board is always busy. There are so many things to talk about in soccer. And it's pretty much never about the poster's soccer equipment or the league or team they play on. It is about professional soccer clubs and leagues.
