If she used a fake email name could it be traced to her phone or computer

This is for a friend who is having trouble with her ex

Yes.

If one ever wants to send emails and not get caught, then buy a burner phone, go to a public library for internet access, create a fake email address, then send emails.

Do not bring said burner phone home. Hide it in an inconspicuous place that doesn’t have cameras.
