My theory is that new boards take away posters from the OT. Some people are big movie people and stay on the movie board and never post on the OT, some are political and some only post on the F&D and so on and so forth and those posters eventually stop even clicking on the OT. So topics that may get a lot of traffic on the OT are only on other boards and only people who frequent those boards see them and post about them.

The OT gets a ton of traffic...this time of year, it has more hits than any other page. It has the most topics too.

I don't really care either way. I like some of the specialized boards, although I think a few could be combined.

The OT is for college socializing and what people are eating, goofy and strange news stories-that would never fit on any other board. Planning IRL tailgate gatherings and IMing. -It will never change.- The current suck of the OT is: an old crew grew in notariety, grew up and got big boy jobs. There will always be college age kids...
I think more specific boards like a military/history, or Travel Board would appeal to mature adults that actually click and buy things in ads.
Leave the OT be the OT:college socializing for the kids, weird news stories, IRL gatherings and the hardleggers that use it like the POF dating site.

I am only in the over 40 board. The over 50 board is where all the secret admin boards are, as well as "the list," of all those that upvote themselves. I hear it is a riot watching people vote for themselves LIVE. and of course where the best nudes are.

If we are going to create boards for the military, why not a manufacturing industry board? There are probably more folks directly employed in oil & gas, and chemical manufacturing than in the military. They usually end up derailing threads to tell stupid stories filled with acronyms and things that most people don't get. I think it'd be nice to have a place to do that so they don't keep hijacking threads.
