Anyone here that currently take prescription meds such as lexapro Wellbutrin and/or Ritalin

Although I have energy my appetite has curbed so much. I just don’t know how to adjust my caloric intake while on this stuff. I mean I eat less but I like to quantify and have some sort of specific number

Are you taking Ritalin for appetite suppression, or are you on it for ADHD? I only ask because I find people who don’t have ADHD are usually affected more by the appetite suppression effect.

If you don’t have to be on it, I would suggest trying something else. Also cardiovascularly may not be the best choice.

There are non stimulant options available as well that may help curb without completely diminishing your appetite.

I’m on it for the adhd
Lexapro and Wellbutrin for depression

But I’ve been rediagnosed through the va with ptsd so I’m not sure what medication is best but they are helping me in addition to lifting weights. And I’m passing my occupational therapy clinical this time around

Have you tried discontinuing the Ritalin or only take it on the weekdays?

You're not eating because it basically pharmaceutical grade meth. It's greatly curbing your appetite and speeding up your heart thus increasing your metabolism.

Back when I was on Adderall, my appetite was suppressed at first, but once my body got used to the medicine the appetite came back. Same thing happened with the kid.

I take an anti depressant and could tell a slight dip in depression when I first started taking pre workout but now I don't feel depressed after I take it.

But that is just me. We're all different.

What medication is best

Mood stabilizers are a tricky beast in themselves. I think for most people it’s about finding the right cocktail (shaken, not stirred) and then adjusting/adapting as needed.

Lexapro seems to be an all around good medication for a wide variety of anxiety disorders and depression as long as the negative side effects don’t outweigh the benefit (loss of sexual interest being the biggest). I tried it for a little while, but it just wasn’t meant to be a part of my cocktail.

Welbutrin is a really good “ pick me up” for most and some actually get the “adderall” effect while taking it.(Decreased appetite, extra energy etc.) Wellbutrin also can decrease that nasty little side effect produced from lexapro.

How long have you been on this regimen? SSRI’s are usually the go to for PTSD, at least to start. Welbutrin is an atypical antidepressant, but if it’s working for you then that’s what matters.

Bottom line, put your mental health first and if the side effects outweigh the benefits I would recommend talking to your doc. If you are trying to bulk up I would suggest increasing your caloric intake when you eat to help combat the loss of appetite.
