I couple of you have referred to the "thermogenic" nature of some foods or diets. Can you clarify for me?

Is it a digestive/metabolism thing?

Is it helped by external temps, like sitting in a sauna?

Would sitting in sauna while eating a high thermogenic factor food be the best?

Thanks. I'll hang up and listen.

It is the amount of thermic energy it takes to digest certain foods.

For example, lean beef has a very high thermic effect so ~25% of the calories in the food are used by the body just to digest and break it down. The heat is internal.

No need for the sauna for that. It is good for you though if you have time just to sit in one. Good for stress levels especially.
