Congrats on the sobriety. I'm 10 months sober from coke and booze and I am down 80 lbs. My girlfriend and I are at the gym 5 to 6 days per week. I have connected with people there who are more concerned about living healthy than getting high. It also helps me to have my girlfriend with me to keep me accountable. Good luck.

I run a lot and sometimes for whatever reason it distracts my alcohol cravings.
especially in the afternoons (obviously after work).
but that would be my best advice for days where you want to rest your arms and work out your legs some.
once you find a routine that works for you.
I always shed about 10 lbs. in the summer cause of the heat then sort of gain it back at the end of the year with holiday drinking and eating.

Congrats man! You can ease into it ane get used to the soreness by possibly doing some bodyweight exercises to begin with like pushups, pullups, body squats, lunges, bridges, planks, hypers and dips. After a few wks of that then transition into a good starting strength program like Stronglifts like others have suggested. This is a good board with alot of knowledgeable posters so dont be afraid to ask questions. Another tip would be to begin working on mobility. Find a basic stretching routine and start getting your body loose. This will help with your squatting form (tight hams and calves are tough to squat with) and allof your pressing when you start getting into lifting. Youtube is your friend.
