Random thoughts on Creatine

I only started taking Creatine in my mid 30s and now take it for 4-6 months during the winter. I gain the typical 6 lbs and can feel at least a little extra strength with heavier lifts. However, it's not as significant as others claim and may even be just the effect of weighing a little more.
When I'm off creatine, my weight fluctuates about 3-4 lbs between the time that I go to bed and wake up. When on creatine, there is little to no fluctuation. I'm assuming this is due to the water weight and not 'losing' it at night. I've wondered if creatine helps to decrease dehydration risk as I'm often exercising outdoors during summer months.
I read recently that some feel fatigue when going off creatine as the body's natural production may decrease due to the additional supplementation when taking it. I've never experienced the fatigue and had never heard of this effect previously.
When playing sports that require explosive bursts, I think that creatine may provide a boost for me although not positive. It may be that it offsets the negative impact of weighing those extra lbs.
I'm on the leaner side and will probably continue using it in the winter to preserve muscle loss (since I'm getting older) although welcome any thoughts.

I took it for a while. Gained a little water weight but never noticed a significant strength difference.

I am pretty sure it's been documented for anaerobic exercise to increase performance but not aerobic.

I’ve never noticed anything with it. Only supplement I use is protein powder. Use creatine occasionally for recovery but can’t tell if it helps.

I recently added it for the first time and still trying to figure out what works best. I got the pills and directions are for 6 daily. They're a pain to get down so I'll be switching to the powder. Is there any particular brand/product you recommend? How long should I stay on it?
Sounds like I'm a similar age and body type as you so I'm curious to see the results. Do you just take it with protein shake after workout and in the morning on off days?

I took creatine pills once but it only required one/day. I drink a smoothie about 3x/week and add the powder on those days.
The only other supplement I take is a pre-workout and have been going with Pre-Jym recently. This already has enough daily creatine so I don't take anything else on these days (about once/week for me).
On the other few days when I don't have a Smoothie or Pre-Jym, I add the powder to a small cup of OJ or Gatorade.

Creatine supplementation is essentially supposed to help you workout at a higher intensity for a longer period of time. The weight gain is likely due to increased muscle mass during the supplementation, but some may be due to water retention caused by some creatine supplements. I noticed with Con-Cret, out of all the creatine supplements I have taken, causes very little water retention.

Update: it's definitely messing with my stomach. Anyone had problems with this? Will my body just adjust to it or do I need to try a different brand/product?

Is it monohydrate or hcl?
