Provigil/Modanfinil
People were asking in a previous topic about why Provigil/ Modanfinil is so exspensive. The reason is because there is no comparable drug. No competition like there is with drugs used to treat depression. There's a list of depression medications but not with provigil. There is a generic for provigil called Modanfinil. The only other drug is Nuvigil and it dosent work like provigil does. I have had very bad sleep apnea, narcolepsy and fatigue from MS since 2002. I have been on provigil since then. My insurance dosent want to pay for it so my doctor has to submit medically necessary paperwork every 6 months since 2002. Luckily I only pay $1.20 copay for 90 pills. (100mg 3x day). My medical conditions are not going to go away. Ever!! I am older to. You would think the insurance company could save time and money by just approving me for life.

Drugs are person specific.. what works well for you may not for me. It’s great that you found a medication that helps you, sucks you have to jump thru hoops to get it. I understand why a company would not approve a person for life for a medication. People and circumstances change. Good luck to you.

I take Moda for focus at work--work ridiculous hours too. Skip the insurance, buy from Costco--it's even cheaper than going through insurance.

I take 200 mg of provigil every morning. It used to elevate my mood for a few hours. It also used to help when I worked the graveyard shift. My doctor has to submit paperwork bc of prior authorization for my insurance.

Provigil works better if I get off of it for about 8-12 weeks and then start it again.

I'm interested in this topic. I was listening to the Joe Rogan podcast and they were talking about Nuvigil and Provigil. With my commute and work schedule I'm certainly not getting "enough" sleep so I'm all ears when it comes to options to help me.

re: Provigil/Modanfinil
I bought a round of 50 off modalert.com (some sketchy website from india)

Was worried the stuff would be fake but it turned out to work really well. I just didn't buy any more because It could make me nauseated on an empty stomach.

I definitely suffer from sleep apnea/insomnia and the difference when taking it was ridiculous (in a good way). Only other negative was the crash if I didn't take it everyday. I didn't usually use it on weekends away from work. I'd feel sluggish all day saturday.
