Pain in my right flank

Little background. I’ve been a fairly heavy drinker since since 21. 31 now. I’m short and over weight, but not as heavy as I used to be. When I say heavy I mean pretty heavy. I have high bp which I take medicine for. (Small dose)
Since September I’ve been having on and off pain in my back on my right side. Always has gone away. I thought it could be muscular or kidneys. Made sure I was hydrated. Friday morning I wake up with the most intense pain of my life. A grabbing pain in that same spot. I had a buddy bring me to the er. While waiting it subsided. I did a blood, urinalysis, ultrasound and ct scan.
Ultrasound tech said no kidney or gall stones. Noted my fatty liver. She was convinced it was sludge in my gall bladder causing the inflammation. Doctor comes in and says I have a fatty liver and alcoholic hepatitis. He didn’t prescribe anything , but quit drinking. Since then I have not drank a drop of alcohol. I’ve been eating better. It definitely feels better, but if I take a sudden deep inhale I have this shooting pain in that same spot. Or if I turn to the left it hurts. Anyone else deal with anything like this?
I’d like to have a follow up with a gi doctor, but my only dilemma right now is that I don’t have insurance. So that’s not an option.

Please define "fairly heavy drinker".

It's going to take a while to fix health problems. There's no overnight fix. You have at least a month, more like three, before you getting any real, substantial gain.
You are on a new journey in life.

It’s nothing for me to drink 8 beers. 6 shots and 6 woodfords

Everyday? Or is that a once a week binge? That's a lot if you're drinking that heavily daily.
I'm more of a binge drinker. I can put down a 12 pack on a weekend night, or a full case if I'm watching sports all day, or maybe a fifth of Crown if it's a holiday. But then I rarely drink the other 6 days of the week.

Well done. How’s that going? Do you think you can keep it up?
