Anyone gone/going through this? I'm on my 6th medical provider and they have whittled it down to this. I understand that certain triggers heighten the severity ( I get frontal/sinus headaches, eustachian tube pressure, and some tinnitus)- 6 out of 7 days.

I am going to talk to my allergist/immunologist next week about an SPG block for the headaces, but was curious if anyone (physician, NP, patient) has much experience with this chronic somewhat debilitating condition.

Been suffering with it since childhood. Have had septum and sinus surgery, allergy tests and shots. Even had an experimental nerve freeze in the nasal passage. No success. FYI, I’m 63. Long time to live tortured by this.

Just curious, did you have Clarifix, Vivaer, or Rhinaer done? The ear/eustachian tube pressure is bad, but the headaches are what really grind on me. I keep telling myself that I can't be the only one with this extreme of a case of non allergic rhinitis.

Typically the predominant symptom of vasomotor rhinitis is nasal drainage. I usually find that if patients don't have a positive response to ipratropium bromide nasal spray then unlikely to have a benefit from spg cryotherapy or rf ablation.

If your main symptoms are what you listed with frontal headaches, ear pressure fullness and tinnitus on a daily basis, I would encourage you to consider alternative diagnoses of a atypical headache or migraine disorder especially if your sinus work up and/or CT scan was largely negative. Consider ruling out sleep apnea if you have any sleep symptoms. Over the counter supplementation with magnesium 400mg nightly and vit b complex supplements may have some benefit. There's a variety of prescription medications that can be trialed and more often than not many migraine/headache patients may need to try several different types or consider injections as needed.

Anyway just something to think about as I'm not sure to what extent you have been treated amongst your 6 medical providers.

Sorry for the late response. I’m not familiar with those procedures. I have taken ipatropium (sp) but my symptoms persist.

My doctor prescribed ipratropium bromide nasal spray and it worked great. I think it made my eyes a little dry, though.

Was diagnosed with rhinitis a month ago. ENT Doc put me on a 9 day regimen of prednisone. That knocked it out in 4 days. But that’s me. Everyone is different. Good luck.

Finding out what triggers it can help. For me it is changes in the temperature and barometric pressure.

Thanks Puff for the detailed response. Yes, last ENT thinks it is migraine type "syndrome" associated with trigeminal nerve. I have stuck with Allergist/Immunologist regimen of multiple sprays (no affect).
Crossing fingers. Will see neurologist who gears a lot of her practice to this. Thanks again for the info!
