Blueapron, hellofresh, etc.

Are the portions adequate for high protein diets or just an expensive mish mash of ingredients?

Not trying to be a dick. But why not just buy chicken, turkey, beef, and some brown rice, sweet taters, and cook on sundays and portion for week?

Following up on this for anyone considering signing up to one of these services.

I tried both Sunbasket and HelloChef. Both had decently healthy menus however the whole delivery concept needs to be completely revamped.

For Sunbasket I received a heavy, wet cardboard box that was falling apart at my doorstep. The ice bags they used to ship were leaking water all inside the box.

Opened the box and there's random wet packs of food scattered all over it. The food packets had pieces of wet packing material stuck to them (think that gray carpet/cloth type mix that you see commonly used as filler)

The box is supposed to contain 3 separate meals, but the packets were all mixed together so I had to go back on the website menu and take an inventory of my order and make 3 separate piles of meals.

Then I began opening the food to make a meal. Opened the strawberries and they were molded. The cabbage was brown. The avocado was already turning purple. Remember this was the day the box came in.

So I said f this - I'm getting a full refund and canceling my subscription. Went to the website, there is no cancellation option. You have to email or call.

Ok so I email and don't hear back for 4 days. The rep said they'll refund the first order but cannot refund the order coming in next week because you have to give at least a week's notice. But I couldn't give any quicker of a notice after getting the first box arrived in like a beatup hooker at my doorstep.

I emailed back and simply said refund my money or I'll dispute the charge. We'll see how they handle this.

To conclude, don't mess with any of these services. No matter how tempting the food looks on the website. It's a mess.

Icon meals sends all your meals individually sealed, when all you have to do it pop it in the microwave.

The thing about Icon meals, it's so close to what I can make at home.

The reason I started looking at delivery services was because they had unique ingredients and recipes outside the plain ole pork chop and mash potato type meal.
