What are your goals?
Let me know if that’s not answering your question. In short my goal is to get stronger, look ripped and not have a dad bod at the pool this summer. I’ve made good progress in lifting but I do feel like my diet is off. I’ve been packing on protein getting between 1 and 1.25 g/lb per day it’s total calories, carbs and fat where I feel like I’m off. I was doing a low carb diet, kind of a non strict version of keto. Adding carbs back in has been a challenge to know what to eat.
ETA: I don’t want to get strong and also look fat

BMI is unreliable at best for weight trainers. Not surprising you’re “overweight “ if you are packing on muscle...
I recommend a book called Renaissance diet 2.0. It is a great read and is strictly science based and teaches you how to construct a diet based on your goals. It’s for athletes and it echos a lot of the great advice on thread.

MFP is telling me 2580 calories which I have a hard time hitting without feeling like I’m stuffed all day. Right now I’m 5’8” 166 2580 calories is a chore to get through.
There’s gotta be a genetic component to this. Wasn’t there someone posting a week ago that he was feeling full on 1400 calories/day?
Meanwhile, I can easily blow through 3000 calories and still have room for junk food. I’m 5’7 165.

quote:that wasn’t me but I’m at 1400 right now on the day. Factor in the workout and I still have another 1400 to go - no way that’s happening. The most I’m usually able to eat is around 2200 gross calories - add in a run and a lift and I’m at a big “deficit”. I don’t eat junk food or fast food and drink very little alcohol. I’ve actually put on weight since I’ve started tracking it and trying to get the right amount of calories.
