My question: my schedule to get to gym on some days has changed. On the days I can only get to gym later than the designated time I eat, I am wondering if it is still essential to eat after working out if it's past the time I eat.

For example, I fast 8pm to noon next day. So I eat noon to 8pm; so if I work out at 9pm, do I still eat to refuel or do I not eat because it's fasting time??

I'd definitely refuel. You need to change that fasting window. Hard to build muscle with nothing in the system for 10 hours.

I agree with Greek. Change the window.

Can someone clue me in on this fad of fasting?
I get upset if I go 3 hours without a meal

I think it's just a matter of what works for "you" (in the general sense). I like to eat big meals when I eat, been that way forever...so rather than eating 3 meals or more per day and keeping them small, I prefer to eat one or two a day...helps me keep everything in check more when I'm not constantly watching calories/carbs.

I'm not even going to pretend to know of any of the science behind it or the benefits of intermittent fasting or what-have-you...I just like it because I can eat more in one sitting than I can eating less, more often.

Most "normal" people (not people really devoted to weights and such like yourself) use it mainly to control calorie consumption. It is essentially just skipping a meal which in turn lowers your calorie total for the day.

I know the stuff about hormone control and all that, but most people that are just health consious are into that less than they are about consumption control.

Got it
So like if I eat a pizza for lunch, I can fast til lunch tomorrow so my 24 calorie intake stays normal?
Just a way to eat un-clean sometimes

Same way ive felt about low carb diets when ive been on them.. that and the initial water loss always sets people up for disapointment imo. This is in regards to normal people dieting.

Cutting out a whole macro tends to restrict calories pretty well... esp the one that makes up cake.

I initially decided to get healthy and started 6 months ago to lose weight and lower BP. I'm 230 now from 290 and my BP averaging 125/75 from 140/90. I want to continue to focus on getting leaner but build muscle too along the way. I'm new to all this so thanks for all advice

Yes, you need to adjust your feeding window around your workout.

I did IF for about a year, and my Feeding window was from noon-8pm

I would break my fast with a protein shake / PWO / Lift / then eat.....

You need nutrition post workout

Why don't you just eat a meal or any number of snacks from 3-5pm and then a big meal after you workout and go to bed?
