So I'm active duty Navy and this past week we took our first Physical Readiness Test (PRT) in two years. I did fairly well on the push-ups (75 - which is graded as an Outstanding Low) and planks (2:05 - which is graded as a Good Low). But then I got to the run and absolutely blew it out of the park. The Navy has us run 1.5 miles for whatever reason and I finished that run in 8 minutes, 57 seconds (which is graded as an Outstanding High).

I'm so proud of myself. I had a dad bod the last time I took the Navy PRT and scored decently enough. But because of Covid-19 and my desire not to sit on my arse for the entire pandemic, I was able to get in shape and lose a lot of weight in the process. Though I am pretty angry at myself for not working more on my core muscles because if I had been able to score better than a Good Low on the planks I would have been able to score an overall Outstanding on the fitness test. I guess I'll just take the Excellent for now.

I didn't know y'all used the plank in your PT test.

We still do sit-ups.

Impressive run time.

Plank? Did they dump sit-ups?

I would max out on the push-ups and sit-ups and half arse the run and still score Outstanding.

I hate running.

Congratulations on your achievement, man.

For context, I have a couple of questions:

- is the push-up number time limited? Or just to failure?

- what are the tiers for each exercise? And what are the respective qualifications?
