I'm in my 40's and getting a hip replacement....not sure why, but it's happening. Anyone have any insight on how soon after the surgery one can start doing some cardio and very light lifting? How long does the soreness in the hip lasts after the surgery? TIA!

I would imagine you’re going to have at least 8 months to a year of PT rehab before you can get back to any normal intensity. That’s a major surgery. Luckily you’re still young so you’ll prob tolerate recovery a lot better than most.

That’s super young to be getting one. To the point you’ll be having to get a replacement down the road.

Ensure your surgeon knows how to and does an anterior approach. Avoid posterior approach surgeons at all cost.

I just had arthroscopic hip surgery to repair a torn labrum. When doctor finished my surgery, he told me my hip had worse arthritis than he initially thought. As a result, I’ll likely need a hip replacement in 15 years or so. He told me that a healthy person can be close to full speed in 4-6 months depending on how they recover. Said hip replacements are light years ahead of where they were. Think you’ll be surprised how fast you bounce back. Good Luck.
