Heel spur/bone spur

Anyone experience this. Went to ortho and they xrayed. I thought it was achilles but it is a spur on back bottom of heel below the achilles. Looks like a shark tooth and looks like it cracked. I am supposed to be in a boot for 6 weeks.

I play tennis and have been limping around tbe court. Based on what ortho told me it won't go away because it is bone and I can manage the pain or eventually get surgery. Anyone have any other solutions that might have worked?
