I posted a thread on the OT, because I wasn't sure which board I should post it on. Not sure if I'm allowed to post same topic on both boards.

In the thread, I explain that a good friend had a tumor/Cyst removed from her brain stem 2 years ago, and is still in great amounts of pain.

Her doctor (not the surgeon) told her a year after surgery that her SCM had been cut during the op. She was never told this... never sent to rehab or physical therapy.

Now she often gets "stuck" in one position, and can't turn her neck too far during daily things. When the muscles tightens (for hours or days) she says it feels like when the bottom of your foot cramps and feels like it's stretching out. Goes from her neck, down her arm and back

Wondering if anyone has any experience with this, recovery, recommendations etc...?

Currently does accupuncture, massage therapy, sees a cranial sacral specialist.... no pills, no meds besides natural stuff.

Serrapeptase and similar type stuff may help. Rumored to help get rid of scar tissue.

The Brain That Changes Itself: Stories of Personal Triumph from the Frontiers of Brain Science

2007 so it is a bit dated, but a scientist was doing some pretty amazing stuff in it.

Ketosis diet is super efficient for getting energy to your brain. Like 4x a glucose diet (in the energy spent for getting energy to the brain). So that could be worth looking into too. Is Ketosis Dangerous? (Science of Fasting & Low Carb Keto)

So those Buddhist monks can achieve brain waves beyond an average joe, it could be worth looking into a meditation to help rewire the brain.

Godspeed to your friend.

Thank you! I will look into the Serrapeptase.. truly have no clue what this is but I'm sure google will help. and the book as well...

I agree that the most useful solution may be a specific diet and lots of meditation! We can heal ourselves of most of our ailments. The human body really is an amazing place.

Thanks for the feedback

I wouldn't recommend a pt unless the pt is a specializes in neuro same with an occupational therapist.

If I had to guess there may be some internal scar tissue that's lefts after the tumor/cyst was removed from the brain stem.

How is your friends, breathing, circadian rhythm, heart rate, etc? This is what the brain stem controls

Serrapeptase

You get in there and read comments, questions, and answers and you will have found yourself an interesting read. It could be a start point to convince yourself to look into it further. I don't know if any of it does stuff, but some people are claiming miracles .

Of course the most important thing is your outlook. You can do so much more with a positive outlook. So make sure your friend has that first and foremost or everything else will be wasted!

You are more than welcome.
