Getting my brother into resistance training

Some background, he's 37 no real weightlifting or resistance training. He is on the verge of overweight but consistently losing weight through dieting. He ran rack in high school but other than that not anything else.
He approached me yesterday about lifting weights, I gave him a brief run down of things to look at. Today I emailed him the greyskull thread and some Alan thrall instructional videos of the main lifts. I don't think I'm able to give him any quality coaching, the only way I've learned was from watching videos and critiquing myself.
So my question is how would y'all introduce and get him comfortable with the core lifts? Should I steer him to a crossfit gym for the Olympic lifts?

#1 trap bar deadlifts. They pretty much make you do it correctly and much easier to teach yourself and be aware
#2 start with just the bar on squats and start with box squats if possible.
other than that, just stick to bench, squats, press, deadlifts, chins and let him go crazy on some arm shite for a while. He will build strength and feel better about himself. Or instead of the arm stuff let him do ring rows ring pushups and bar dips.
at that age its important to just be encouraging and get him slowly into the correct positions and form. Its not like training a high school kid when it comes to confidence etc.
Just get him lifting progressivly and then pushing a sled if possible. keep it simple
