2011ish specialized crosstrail. Frame size should be right for me.

Guy is asking $400.
Claims it is 27 speed, although the standard appears to be 21 for those.
Front and rear disc brakes.
What other questions should i ask?

2011 Specialized CrossTrail Bicycle Blue Book Value LINK $176 in Excellent shape

If it's a Pro looks like its worth a little more @ $359

Specialized changes their bike colors almost yearly so check by paint design/color. Also looks like there are several different CrossTrail designs. $400 isn't out of this world but it's on the high side for all of the versions considered to be in excellent condition.

Good Luck.

What's the group set? If it's 27 speed, then the cassette has to be 9 gears. If the crank is 3x (it has to be), then you'll have a lot of overlap in gears.

I guess for a Sora crank set, and disk breaks, 400 isn't bad. Still seems like a lot for a 10 year old bike though. I'm cheap AF.

Looks just like the 2011 Specialized Crosstrail Comp Disc which does list as a 27 speed. $287 in Excellent Condition per Blue Book Value Private Party Sale Price.

I think my main concern would be the fork. If the fork has been replaced recently, that's worth 400 to me. No telling what the springs look like in that thing.

I don't know, man. I'd wait until the shops restock, pay 150-200 more and go new. I think that price is taking advantage of the shortage. You can get a lot of fitness/hybrid bike for 6-700.

He said all original components, other than the saddle. And just like everyone else on the planet, he says it hasnt been ridden much-estimated 200 miles.

I didnt want to be a low balling jerk, but i wanted to maybe offer him 250 and feel pretty good about it

Been a while since I did much with a MTB or Suspension bike. I recall the Forks being a PITA and certain forks being heavy and not very adjustable. If that fork has elastomers in it they will fail. Don't know if they even make forks with elastomers anymore but mine failed a few times and I eventually replaced with more permanent springs. Some were fluid filled and I've know nothing on those.

They have brand new hybrid Giants for $400. I’m not sure I would pay that much for a 10yr used bike unless it was a full road bike.

why do these companies put suspension forks on hybrid bikes like this? a rigid fork would be fine for most people, who aren't riding the slickrock at moab on these things.
