Fasting Question

The objective of fasting is to relieve your digestive system of continuing work, but more importantly, it allows your body to deplete the glycogen in your liver, thus producing more ketones. This method produces 20 times more ketones, while a ketosis diet only produces 4 times the ketones. Being that the extra production of ketones is what actually causes weight loss, does consuming supplements or anything that doesn't get converted into glycogen really matter much?

Per my understanding, and 777 can probably answer better than all of us, as long as the supplement is solid (no oils) and does not cause an insulin response, then yes they are okay.
ETA: applies to wet fasting only, dry fasts are just that, nothing in, period.

The answer lies more in what you are taking and if it causes an insulin response and does it have calories.
What is the supplement or supplements in question?

From my understanding, the real goal of fasting is to achieve autophagy. This is the body’s most effective and efficient way of renewing itself. In order to maximize the autophagy during a fast, stick to water only and supplement with 2-3 g of sodium and 1000 or so mg of magnesium.
