So I am a regular in the gym 4X a week, getting stronger slowly but steadily. Moved from DC to Dallas in November and joined a new gym. One of the perks was that I got a free body testing done and it was 1/2 going forward (so $20 a pop). Figured I would start the new year off right and get it done then do quarterly scans to see where I am.
Went in yesterday and did 2 scans; Dexa and a Styku. BF was about 14% on Styku and about 17 on Dexa (not sure which one is better but just to give a frame of reference). I tend to think the higher one is a bit more accurate as I have good definition in my arms but only slight definition in my abs.
As an aside, to get into the 15% range as many of you know takes a good amount of work and I felt a great sense of achievement. All those nights of roasted veggies and chicken thighs paid off (was in the 23% range a year or so ago)
Now to my question; how intense is the next 5% going to be? I do not count my macros as of now, but eat 6-8 oz of protein lunch and dinner every day along with 2-3 servings of veggies (at least 1-2 of those servings being green). I eat potatoes probably 3X a week, with 2 of those being sweet potato on deadlift/squat day. I couldn't tell you if i normally eat 2500 calories or 3000 calories.
Do I need to really really start tracking all of that to get the last 3-5%? Or can I just continue to do what I do, which is behave 6 days a week and do 1-2 cheat meals?
TLDR; 17% BF now how do I get into the 12% range (count calories/macros??)
Thanks guys and although i don't respond all the time, i read a lot of what you guys put out on the board (keto stuff/macros/programs). It's great motivation

doesn't have to be intense at all. You got really 2 choices for diet
-Focus on counting mactos or focus on micronutrition so much that you control caloric intake that away.
Personally I think you would be better off just using the Leangains macros and counting but if not here is a simple solution
-count only protein0 get to 300g daily
-add in fasted walking. Goal to get to 360 min a week, adding as you plateau
For the actual workout do one of two things-
- Lift, Circuit, Interval type program- similar to this
or add your conditioning in using the form of giant sets like brian alsruhe prescribes- 4horseman summer shredding
something like this for the giant set approach
LCI approach-

Oh I'm currently doing the Wendler 5/3/1 program and I am liking it a lot. Getting stronger slowly but consistently still.
Thanks, sounds like I just need to do some more calculating and counting in the kitchen. I do plan on adding some HIIT cardio in as well (maybe 1-2 a week to start)

im a longtime 5/3/1 lifter and honestly think its one of the best schemes out there. highly recommend the 5/3/1 forever book. theres so much more information in there that it really allowed me to take the program to the next level.
i think its always a good idea to have a full understanding of not just what you are doing but also why you are doing it.

well if you already do 531 do krypteia from forever or prep and Fat loss training from forever or the conditioning template from beyond.
stick to wendlers diet reccommendations. All whole foods, 300g of protein, carbs only in the morning on days you lift. Keep the fasted walking in like i described above.
you are doing yourself a disservice if you do not buy the forever book. A real disservice. And wendler does deserve any and all money he can for writing forever. TLDR: BUY THE frickING BOOK!!

Pull the link. I just pulled the trigger on buying the book from his site.

You just provided yourself with a lifetime of lifting templates. You won't regret it. I have all his books both ebook and hard copy and am a member of his forum. 100% worth it.
