I ordered the Trainer and the .5 to start. They were shipped in separate packages and the Trainer hasn't arrived yet. I can close the .5 but it's very difficult to completely close it all the way. When the Trainer arrives I'll work on multiple sets/reps. Anybody else have experience with these things?.

Been working on them all day when I have a minute to spare and my hands are already pretty sore.

I have the old style hand grip trainers but, after googling info, I may have to order the CoC set. Thanks for posting.

I do a lot of farmers walks and my grip is the weak link. Hopefully this will help.

I have years of experience with them. I have closed the 3.5 and plan on closing the #4 and the GHP Level 10 one day (it’s a gripper of another brand that’s 20% harder than the 4; it’s my ultimate goal)

Would be happy to answer any questions.

And do not do this. When you train with heavy duty grippers (Captains of Crush, GHP, Baraban, etc) you need to treat it as if you’re doing a weight workout.

Meaning you do a certain number of sets and reps and that’s your workout. You don’t close these all day. Unlike cheap store-bought grippers, these give real resistance and you need to recover. If I were you I would do one gripper workout per week and work on building your overall body strength in the gym. Unless you’re a freak, you’re not going to hit the monster grippers (if that’s your goal) one day without overall body strength.

On your gripper days, eat and prepare as if you’re going to weight train. And treat recovery the same. Furthermore, minimize heavy use of your hands outside gripper work and gym training.

Keep in mind grippers train just one form of Grip - Crush Grip. There’s also pinch and thick bar.

For strongman/functional strength thick bar grip training will have greater carryover. It will also help you develop a strong thumb. Pinch blocks are great too (for pinch grip)

Grippers have the least carryover but are fun to train with and will build your crush grip.

I'm finding that my difficulty in closing the last fraction of an inch is leverage, not strength. I feel like it would be easy if I could bear down on it. I've been watching videos but maybe I'm still not doing it right.

Point taken about overdoing it. I bet you could injure yourself if not careful. A little surprising, I wasn't very sore at all today.

Sounds like a setting issue. You must learn to master setting the gripper in your hand. You will immediately see performance improve.

Watch this. If it doesn’t help or isn’t clear, let me know. The guy in the video has the strongest hands on the planet and is the best in the world on grippers. Hope this helps.

I also do dumbbell vertical carry with 90 degrees at the elbows and forearms parallel to the floor. Add that to the farmer walks. Good stuff.

Are the CoC grippers the best or the hottest name out right now?

They’ve been around since the 90’s. I like GHP grippers just as much. Check out Cannon PowerWorks

i will say for those doing lots of grip work that involves squeezing like the CoC grippers.....dont forget to work your extensors too or you will run into lots of issues later.

I keep a trainer at my desk and a .5 in my truck. I use them while I'm in traffic or on the office phone. Idk if they've made me that much stronger but it's kind of therapeutic.

I've been using these things for a few weeks now along with some removable thick grips for my barbell. it's made a noticeable difference in my grip strength already. I was expecting it to make my hands and forearms sore, but it hasn't. My biceps do get a little sore, and surprisingly so do my hamstrings once in a while, I guess from tensing my muscles all over
