Barbell Maintenance?

Anyone oil their barbell often? My new one was delivered today, and it is oiled from Valor. I'm assuming I should keep it up to avoid it rusting in the garage.
I saw Rogue sells a maintenance kit?

You don't need a kit ...
Go to home depot and get the following:
1. Nylon bristle brush
2. 3 in One oil
3. WD-40
Once a month I clean the shaft of the barbell with 3 in 1. Squirt it and let it soak in there for 10 or 15 seconds then scrub it and wipe it away. In the bushings i spray a little WD-40 and then spin the outside of the barbell to let it spread within the inside.
I also have a car leather cleaner wipe (armor all) that I wipe down my bench with every Friday.

I have a raw barbell that I put 3 in 1 every so often and it's been fine.
it's also in the garage and it hardly rusts

The material and coating on the barbell really determine how frequently you need to clean it. Stainless steel and cerakote don’t really need anything to prevent rust, but maybe to clean off chalk or grime. Most coatings maybe every couple of weeks. Raw steel every week.
I always use the same 3-1 oil in the sleeves. Not a lot because you don’t want too much oil leaking out. It can actually collect dust and gunk up the sleeve if you have too much. I’ve never used WD 40 in the sleeve because I thought was more of a solvent and not necessarily a lubricant. More for breaking down rust, but if it works great.

You don’t need to do what Alan does all the time only if it gets really rusty and the sleeves starts locking up.
