Another injury post from me.

So I'm in talks with my orthopedic surgeon to have my ACL re-reconstructed because the first attempt left the ACL too loose and I have absolutely no stability in my left knee. It gives out constantly, sometimes just while walking in a straight line.

We get some MRI's and now he tells me I've got arthritis in that knee as well. I'm not 30 yet. I wasn't terribly concerned with another ACL surgery but the arthritis thing has me on edge. I always assumed it was coming because I've torn the ACL twice, meniscus, and LCL in the same knee; just didn't think it'd be this soon. Anybody have experience with this at a young age? Should I just go get fitted for a prosthetic and cut the damn thing off above the knee?

I have arthritis in both of my knees and found out in my late 30s. There are excercises you can do to strengthen the muscles around your knees to support better. My Dr also told me an exercise bike is good for that as well. They printed out a bunch of excercises you can do at home. The one that helped me the most was rolling up a dish towel and placing under your knee on the floor and pressing down with your knee. You just continue to build up how long you can hold it down. I'm sure you can Google to find the excercises as well.
