I have a better idea. Send me $5,000 and I will build you a home gym that meets your parameters. And I get to keep the other $3,000-$4,000.

I bought a Tonal 2 last year during the Black Friday sale and absolutely love it. I do the “live programs” of which there are over 200, and you can filter down by coach, number of weeks, number of workouts you want to do per week, the type of splits you are looking for etc…
It’s not just a functional trainer — it has a “brain” that increases the weight I’m lifting based on my performance [so forced progressive overload], and, depending on how the coach designs the program, uses eccentric or chains mode to further challenge the muscle being worked. My “strength score” is continually going up and I’m definitely getting more definition.
In the gym, I’ve lifted the same weights forever and find it hard to self motivate to do more reps, more sets, higher weights…. This machine forces me to do it, and having the “coach” there doing the workout along with me makes it fun.
So far, Twelve Weeks to Jacked is my favorite program, and I’ve gotten such good results so quickly that my husband is going to start using it as well instead of going to the gym.
Now for context we are 58 and 61 so we wouldn’t be in a squat rack lifting hundreds of pounds anyway, but the Tonal is perfect from us. And you can’t beat going upstairs to do a workout. You do need a largish space for the arms and pulleys to move out, so make sure you verify space with their requirements.
