I think it might be the opposite. Depends on where the fade is starting. If the ball is starting left of the target at fading to the target then potential outside in swing. However it’s rare to see someone with two different swing paths with just irons.
My bet is the swing is a few degrees in to out. This would explain the draw with the short irons. It’s easier to square the face with a shorter club. The fade with the longer ones is actually a push fade with the ball starting on or to the right of target. It’s harder to square the face so the ball falls to the right.
