Looking to go play this course soon at the end of summer. You can only book 2 weeks in advance online for tee time. I called the Kohler destination about packages and tee times. The guy told me you had to book a room through them to play the straits course. Does anybody know if this is true? Because I can go online and pick a tee time for tomorrow to play.

That's what my dad and I did to play. We stayed at the Inn on Woodlake. Played the Straits course and Blackwolf Run river course. That was back in 2015, I'm looking at the website now and it looks like the packages are for 3 rounds and are more expensive than the 2 round package we did. If I recall correctly, our package was for the Straits course and the Meadow Valley course but we called and asked if we could switch to the River course and they let us, so if you ask, they might be willing to accommodate.

So it’s mandatory that you must stay at one of their locations in order to play the straits? How was the experience on the straits worth the money?

My only guess is if you wanted to book the Straits more than 2 weeks in advance, it'll have to be through 1 of the packages which means staying at 1 of those hotels, which are really nice btw.

It was absolutely worth the money, it's hard to focus on golf at the straits course, it's more about just enjoying the views and the experience and getting kicked in the balls by the course. Blackwolf Run was more enjoyable from a golf perspective and it was more serene and relaxing. It's a bucket list trip for sure.

Stayed at the America Club back when LSU played Wisconsin in Green Bay.
Played Straits, Irish, Blackwolf Run. Was the best golf experience of my life. I was so excited, and it lived up to the hype. Don’t think I stopped grinning all day. I’d definitely say it’s worth the money.
It might be tough getting on the later you wait, as I’m sure they will be shutting down in advance of the Ryder Cup.

If you can swing it, stay at the American Club and play the Straights.

The package deals aren’t terrible given the accommodations and the golf.

Top notch experience.

The connection between WS and LA residents/LSU fans is one of those weird cool things that just is. A lot of us bundled the trip to see LSU play in Lambeau into a hell of a golf trip.

We didn't stay in Kohler when we played. Not sure if it has changed since then.

I’m playing Whistling Straits September 1st which is just a couple weeks before Ryder Cup this year so I know they’re staying open until then.

To book an advance straights tee time, it requires a 2 night stay on property.

Yeah thats what we are debating with the situation my buddy gets free rooms through marriot. So we don't really know if we should take a chance and waiting to book a tee time within 2 weeks out or just getting the room and for sure having a tee time.
