Myself and a few guys are headed to the US Open on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We have the Garden Ticket package.
I've never been to Pinehurst...and recommendations? Advice?
Is parking a nightmare? Anything to do afterward?

Bookmarked for later. We are staying in Southern Pines and have Trophy Room tickets for the week.

While not specific to this particular tournament, one thing I did was make my own autograph book by taking each of the holes and getting players to sign it.
Gives you a pretty interesting piece of memorabilia to take home IMO.

If it’s possible, have a mint julip on the front porch of the main hotel.
Also, if it’s hot, put ice cubes in your beer.

I went in 1999.
Practice round.
We parked in a field and took a bus.
I’m sure it’s changed in 25 years.

Nope. Last time it was there, we too parked in a field and rode a bus to the course.

Yell “Babah Booey” a lot. People will love you for it.

What about “Get in the hole!” after every shot?

I thought I heard “Baba ghanoush”
at PGA last week.
Whatever you do, get drunk to the point of passing out, fighting, or throwing up. Otherwise you are a coward.

Are you playing?
We are playing Tobacco Road on Wednesday and Mid Pines on Friday.
Mid Pines does shotgun starts starting on Thursday through the weekend. Not sure how I'm going to like it.

Check out the Carolina Inn, old school southern charm.
See if you can get invited to the back patio of the clubhouse. Worked at GSK when we hosted it the last 2 times and had the back patio as the VIP area. Every golfer coming off 18 was right there. Then got to use Tiger Woods Locker down stairs the week after the Open. Pinehurst is awesome just don't play #6. That's a goat farm.

I grew up in La and moved to Southern Pines 30 years ago after graduating from LSU. I have been here for the previous 3 US Opens and will make sure to pass along any information that might help make your trip a good one! First, Pinehurst Resort and the USGA know how to handle the logistics. The USGA recently built a new facility on the grounds of Pinehurst Resort and moved most of their headquarters and testing facility here.
Details on USGA Move
They are heavily vested in making the event run smoothly. When the event was held here in 1999 it was the most southern and most rural site to that point. I was skeptical about how they could pull it off but it went perfectly as did the ones in 2005 and 2014. They have satellite parking set up from each direction of travel. They are several miles out but there were plenty of shuttles and I can't recall much of a wait getting in or leaving. Having said that, the area has exploded since the last open, more hotels and regular everyday traffic.
I will make sure to update this thread with anything I think might be useful. Hesitant right now to pass along my recommendations on restaurants, hang outs, breweries etc until I make sure my everyday favorites are going to available that week. Once confirmed, I will send a list.
This is a great area and I hope ya'll enjoy the time! I'll do my best to answer any questions

I went in 2005. First and only US Open I've attended.
Compared to Augusta, it's the total opposite: Nothing pretty about sandhills and pine trees.
If it's dry, prepare for dirty nose boogers.
And it's so packed. Way too much for me.
