Same. It makes sense. I assume the grounds crew isn't going to run over the tee markers and will get off the mower to move them. If the tees are piled there it's a simple scoop of the hand and they've snagged them all. Plus broken tees piled up for par 3s or any non-driver tee shot.

When I bring my daughters to the range at our course, they compile a very large pile of broken tees and still good tees. My oldest (7) loves putting them in her golf bag. It's actually impressive how many are left on the driving range areas.

Played recently and one guy in our group flicks his tees in frustration after bad shots. It’s pretty impressive that he slings them over the fence from a tee box which is a good 20-30ft.
