Timberlane in Gretna
What is the board consensus on this course? I was invited to play this weekend and I'm curious as to what I'm in for.

re: Timberlane in Gretna
Been a couple of years since I’ve been out there so I can’t speak to conditions but they were really struggling for play and they weren’t great but weren’t terrible. There’s been so much rain lately it’s going to be hard for any course to have great conditions.

The course is a bit weird. Front nine is your typical old tree line club course; it’s decent and fun. The back 9 is completely different and must have been added later. And, I mean different in a not good way.

If I can talk him into somewhere else how are the other public courses in that area? I'm not too familiar with it. What would yall recommend?

Lakewood, pricey but nice.

it's not in great condition but the front 9 is one of the best stretches of holes in New Orleans. Agree with the back not being as good but there are a few good holes. Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones FWIW

Front 9>>>>>back 9. I am a fan of one of the last Par 3s in the back 9. I don’t remember which hole it is. But you hit towards the houses over water I think.

I believe it is 17.

I was a junior member there about 40 years ago.

The drainage canal on the back 9 comes into play on several holes and is likely the reason that the 2 9s play so differently.
